Meet #futureshaper: Suzanne Varughese

What do you do?
I am a Chemical Engineer for the Rubber & Plastics Department at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Kansas City National Security Campus which is managed by Honeywell. My role is to enhance the safety, security and reliability of our nation’s nuclear stockpile by producing high quality products that satisfy our customer’s needs.

What gets you excited about coming to work every day?My role as a Chemical Engineer allows me to support our national security and nuclear deterrence strategy while continually advancing my career in ways I never dreamed possible.

What do you wish people knew about Honeywell?
I enjoy telling people about all of the career advancement opportunities that Honeywell offers. We work with a breadth of different cutting-edge technologies, and we offer endless possibilities to explore, innovate and design. Honeywell is definitely an organization that I can see myself working with for the rest of my career.

How are you shaping the future?
I am shaping the future by inspiring the professional development and personal excellence of the next generation of engineers through mentorship and STEM education outreach.  

How does your job make tomorrow better and safer than today?My job contributes to the national deterrence strategy and ensures that our country’s stockpile is safe, secure and reliable.

What achievement are you most proud of?My greatest achievement was creating a qualified innovative manufacturing process to support our national security mission. My team acted with urgency and had to think outside the box in order to meet tight deadlines while delivering the highest quality product to our customer.
