Meet #futureshaper: Kevon Windham

What do you do?I’m a Chemical Engineer. I work to encapsulate different electrical products to ensure the survivability of electronic assemblies from environmental elements and even during flight. 

What gets you excited about coming to work every day?I really enjoy the people that I work with and our dedication to supporting our national security mission.

What do you wish people knew about Honeywell?
I want people to know that Honeywell is a great company that does a lot of great things in the community. I love that I get 40 hours of paid time every year to do volunteer work in the community.

How are you shaping the future?I do a lot of mentoring and STEM education outreach in Kansas City where I mentor kids from underserved communities in an attempt to convince these young minds to pursue STEM-related occupations. 

How does your job make tomorrow better and safer than today?
Our nuclear deterrent has protected our country, thus saving the lives of untold millions. As an engineer within the nuclear security enterprise, I help ensure that our deterrent is reliable and our stockpile is second to none. I believe that this ensures the safety of our world for generations to come. 

What achievement are you most proud of?I am most proud of being a recipient of the Gates Millennium Scholarship, an initiative funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The program promotes academic excellence and provides educational opportunities for outstanding minority students.
