Making Dreams Happen for Youth through Scholarships

We’re investing in the next generation of machinists, engineers and technicians by providing ample scholarships opportunities to help students build high tech, rewarding careers in advanced manufacturing.

With the support of Honeywell, the Kansas City National Security Campus’ (KCNSC) scholarship program began in 2017 with three students. Today, the program has drastically grown and set a record this year by awarding 38 students full-ride scholarships for a total investment of almost $230,000!

Currently, we have five diverse scholarships to support minorities and women interested in pursuing a career in the areas of STEMM, security or safety.

“With a national shortage of skilled laborers, developing the next generation of highly skilled workers is critical for future workforce demands,” Joel Reuter, Director of Strategic Communications stated. “We’re also in an unusual time with COVID-19 greatly impacting the way families are able to manage paying for college. Being a part of supporting families, however big or small, through those uncertainties provides an incredible feeling of hope for the future.”

Because of COVID-19, KCNSC was unable to hold its annual scholarship parade at our main campus.   Therefore many of the students and families were congratulated on their achievements with a socially-distanced scholarship parade, where they were visited by Honeywell and our scholarship partner PREP-KC.  Each recipient received a lawn sign, certificate and photo to help celebrate their achievement.
