KCNSC recognized for water quality and safety programs

The Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment Facility (IWPF) team at the Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) recently won two awards for quality and safety from the Missouri Water Environmental Association. The city of Kansas City, Missouri nominated KCNSC for this honor.

“I congratulate the KCNSC team for their commitment to safety, quality, and the environment,” said Jeff Shoulta, NNSA Kansas City Field Office Manager. “They are setting a great example for other facilities to follow.”

KCNSC received a prestigious Industrial Pretreatment Platinum Award, which is awarded only to facilities that have received a Gold Award for five consecutive years for 100 percent environmental compliance with all pollutant limitation, reporting, and other permit requirements. KCNSC has received the Gold Award each year from 2016-2020.  

In addition to the Industrial Pretreatment Platinum Award, KCNSC received the Industrial Safety Award for 2020. This award is presented annually to two industrial facilities (large and small flows) that demonstrate the best safety rating. Facilities are only allowed to apply every three years, and KCNSC has won this award previously in 1996, 2001, 2012, and 2016.
