KCNSC’s Advanced Production Powers America’s Nuclear Deterrent
Manufacturing Day is more than a celebration —it is a reflection of how American innovation, craft, and teamwork safeguard the nation every day.
The Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) is the engine that powers the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA’s) nuclear weapons production. KCNSC manufactures nonnuclear components that make up 80 percent of all nuclear weapon systems, making advanced manufacturing and a strong workforce essential to sustaining the urgency required for our nation’s nuclear deterrent.
More than 7,000 employees in Kansas City, Missouri, and Albuqurque, New Mexico support this critical mission, including more than 4,000 experts within the Integrated Supply Chain organization. This resilient workforce delivers with precision and rigor, ensuring that design intent becomes reliable product on the factory floor and in the field.
KCNSC’s manufacturing enterprise is evolving in lockstep with mission needs. Additive manufacturing enables complex geometries and faster iteration; and our Smart Factory digital thread strengthens quality and throughput—all in service of delivering trusted national security products with urgency and safety.
