Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day inspires next generation

Engineering is typically a male-dominated arena so the industry often misses out on women considering it as a career path. Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IGED) is a worldwide campaign to encourage middle school and high school females to consider engineering careers.

In Kansas City, Honeywell has partnered with the Society of Women Engineers for 10 years to bring this vital program to our community. More than 63 women engineers working at the Kansas City National Security Campus volunteered for this year’s IGED.

The event brought women professionals in the fields of science, engineering and technology to share their knowledge and experiences, giving the girls the chance to think like an engineer for a day. Students interacted directly with engineering professionals, listened to advice from a keynote speaker and participated in hands-on engineering activities.
