Employees in New Mexico volunteer at the FIRST Lego League State Championships

When students are engaged in hands-on STEM experiences, they build confidence, grow their knowledge and develop habits of learning. The FIRST Lego League is a global robotics competition with programming built around theme-based challenges to engage children in research, problem solving, coding and engineering.

The championship brought together 12 teams of children ages nine to 14 to engage in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) events. Teams used robots built and programmed by the children to compete head-to-head across various challenges.

New Mexico employees filled many roles at the event, including serving as judges, referees, score runners, registration assistants and more.
