American supply base plays critical role in national security
In managing and operating the Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC), Honeywell spends over $670M annually with a network of trusted suppliers. These key supplier partnerships are critical to helping us improve the safety and security of the nation’s nuclear stockpile by delivering trusted products and services for national security programs in the most cost efficient way possible.
We’re also committed to acquiring products and services from small and diverse businesses which account for more than $200M of our procurement spend. As businesses succeed, local economies thrive and economic benefits accrue to the taxpayer.
The KCNSC engages and invests in our supply base in a variety of ways including hosting supplier summits which provide development resources and training materials for the suppliers. This year’s event was the first time KCNSC has hosted a virtual summit, which allowed the audience to double in size to more than 215 suppliers and support staff attending.
“We’ve been hosting a supplier summit since 2016 as a way to improve our partnerships with our suppliers,” Karen West, Small Business Program Manager said. “A better relationship ensures our continued support of smaller businesses and in turn, we produce high-quality parts, products and services delivered on time, it’s a win-win!”
The summit also provides opportunity for the suppliers and members of the KCNSC team to recognize the good work performed by suppliers and provide more information about where KCNSC is headed in terms of volume, technology and challenges. Suppliers can also gain knowledgeable information on a variety of topics, like security and technology, to help them with other customers.
“Our supplier summit agenda is ever-evolving as we plan to continue to assess our suppliers’ needs and plan both in person, virtual and hybrid events that will help us develop the strong supply base we rely on for our national security mission,” West stated.
