Outdoor classroom inspires urban students to pursue science careers

Honeywell is sponsoring the T.R.U.E. Blue (Teaching Rivers in an Urban Environment) program to help local students make the connection between science and the environment.

Nearly 100 students from University Academy Middle School will visit Indian Creek to learn how to collect samples, record the data, and learn how to conduct a site survey.

Honeywell and Blue River Watershed Association employees will help the students perform tests and monitor stream conditions. When they return to the classroom, the students will analyze the results and will plan and implement water quality improvement projects.

Honeywell offers community programming, provides resources and financial support and encourages employee volunteerism where Honeywell can make a real, lasting impact in five critical areas:

  • Science & Math education
  • Family Safety & Security
  • Housing & Conservation
  • Habitat & Conservation
  • Humanitarian Relief
