KCNSC scores success in advancing health, safety and service

Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) prioritizes health, safety and community outreach year after year. This year KCNSC received four major 2026 awards — including one newly verified recognition — building on three earlier National Safety Council honors.

“These honors highlight the impact of our teams’ work and reinforce the value of creating a safe, healthy and supportive workplace,” said Tom Moibi, Senior Director of Health, Safety, Environment & Facilities.
Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health – Gold Level

KCNSC earned the 2026 Gold Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health from Mental Health America (MHA), which evaluates organizations across four pillars: workplace culture, benefits, compliance and overall well being. Only about two in five employers receive recognition at any level.

Gold status reflects the meaningful progress KCNSC is making to build a psychologically safe workplace aligned with industry best practices. KCNSC scored high in all four pillars:
•    Workplace culture
•    Mental health supportive benefits
•    Caring beyond compliance (prioritizing prevention, early intervention and encouraging employees to seek help)
•    Holistic wellness

With an overall score of 85%, KCNSC placed within MHA’s Gold tier (83–91%), joining a select group of employers committed to advancing employee mental health.

This recognition supports the broader efforts of KCNSC’s Employee Well Being Program, which is guided by the Employee Well Being Committee in Kansas City and the New Mexico Operations (NMO) Health and Wellness Committee in Albuquerque. The program centers on mental, physical and social well-being. Volunteer teams also broaden access to resources that promote holistic well being, including mobile health services, blood drives and fitness challenges.

AAOHN Business Recognition Award – First-Time Winner

KCNSC was selected as the 2026 American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN) Business Recognition Award recipient for the first time. AAOHN recognizes one business each year that demonstrates exemplary support for occupational health nursing and worker safety. KCNSC was recognized for:
•    Involving Occupational Health Nurses in strategic planning and policy development
•    Providing dedicated resources, including clinical space, budget, equipment and wellness programming
•    Supporting continuing education, certifications, professional memberships and volunteer leadership
•    Emphasizing lifelong learning through training such as Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

This award highlights the impact of our Occupational Health and Employee Well-Being program and the nurses who contribute to injury prevention, regulatory compliance and employee resilience.

NMO’s Occupational Excellence Achievement Award

New Mexico Operations (NMO) received the National Safety Council’s Occupational Excellence Achievement Award for maintaining days-away-from-work injury and illness rates below industry norms. In 2025, NMO’s lost workday case rate was 0.28, which is 50% lower than the industry average. This comparison is based on North American Industry Classification System-specific data to ensure accurate benchmarking against similar organizations across the industry.

Earning this award reflects that NMO operates with rigorous management safety systems and preventive practices.

Two top awards for blood donation

KCNSC received two significant awards from the Community Blood Center in fiscal year 2026, highlighting KCNSC’s ongoing dedication to life-saving community support. First, KCNSC was recognized as the Top Corporate Donor for the Greater Kansas City Area, securing the No. 1 spot as the largest business donor for calendar year 2025. This marks the first time we have secured the top spot and our third consecutive year being recognized as a top corporate donor. Our employees donated 851 units in 2025, which can save the lives of more than 2,500 individuals and families.

KCNSC’s impact continued through the 2026 Kansas City Corporate Challenge, where KCNSC was recognized for the second year in a row for donating the most blood during the Corporate Challenge period. These donations provided vital support to both the American Red Cross and the Community Blood Center.
