KCNSC Receives Honors from Linda Hall Library as Founding Sponsors in the KC Invention Convention
It’s always exciting to be on the ground floor of innovation.
The Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) was recognized recently by Linda Hall Library for being a founding sponsor of LHL’s Kansas City Invention Convention (KCIC). Last year’s results show why the KCNSC and the Invention Convention are a great partnership now and for the future, with the amazing inventions from talented students:
- KC Student Kelly Anne Greene won national accolades for creating a device that would alert parents and authorities if a young child was experiencing heat exhaustion from being in a hot car.
- Another KC Student, Anthony Arquieta won best in show for developing the “Pelokit,” a device that harnesses energy from his mountain bike.
- Other students brought ideas to the competition, such as low-cost portal water filtration systems, soundless fidget toys, and a long jump measurement app.
KCNSC’s Chief Technology Officer John Jungk is an active participant with LHL and the KC Invention Convention. He said the Invention Convention may lead to a strong pipeline for future innovators at the KCNSC.
“As you can imagine, to succeed in our mission, we need innovators, disruptors, creators, ideators and individuals who seek solutions to everyday problems. Those individuals all start their journey as students in our communities, and I look at the work done by the Linda Hall Library to bring the Kansas City Invention Convention as a unique opportunity to accelerate, reinforce and directly participate in that journey of innovation with the students who live in our regional communities… and who someday may work side-by-side with the talented teams at KCNSC.”
As organizers gear up for this year’s competition, to be held on April 13, 2023, the KCNSC is sure to be involved with STEM judging and mentorship for Kansas City area students in grades 5-12.
