KCNSC Global Security’s Rising Trendsetter
Dr. Jackie Rankin, a Principal Program Manager for the Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) Global Security (GS) Division received the ‘Rising Trendsetter’ STEMMy Award at Central Exchange’s 11th - annual STEMMy award ceremony on Oct. 24.
“Jackie is a champion of STEMM at KCNSC and in the community, showing peer recognition and support in all she does,” said Chuck Kandra, Chief Engineer, Global Security. “Anyone who has worked with Jackie knows she is an influencer of women in STEMM, showing peer recognition and support. She is an emerging leader here at KCNSC and in GS.”
KCNSC has a long-standing relationship with the Central Exchange program as a corporate partner. As part of that partnership, GS Sr. Director Steve Tanner gave opening remarks at the ceremony.
The STEMMy Awards were created to celebrate women in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Medicine across Greater Kansas City. Dr. Rankin was one of nine women who were selected for these awards. They are business and civic leaders, students and educators, and entrepreneurs and advocates who work together to increase diversity and who excel in STEMM.
The ‘Rising Trendsetter’ award recognizes a woman with less than 10 years in the STEMM field who demonstrates significant achievement early in her career.
“We [KCNSC] are tasked with solving some of the most challenging problems in the nation, said Rankin. “Many times, it is a race against the clock, and we have to be the first to get there. The power of a solution is only as good as the diversity of voices that contribute to the solution.”
