KCNSC delivers employee appreciation boxes during pandemic

Despite the atypical and evolving challenges brought on by COVID-19, the Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) workforce overcame unique obstacles to continue its national security mission. Due to the pandemic, many employees quickly transitioned to maximized remote work and still managed to keep up with job demands, all while navigating personal and family needs. The leadership of the site’s contractor took notice and decided to show how much they valued their employees and their tireless efforts during what has been an undoubtedly trying year.

Throughout November and December, “appreciation boxes” will arrive on KCNSC employees’ doorsteps. The boxes contain a KCNSC “mission critical” T-shirt, local farm-fresh jam and biscuits sourced from local farmers to support small business, hand sanitizer, a touchless safety tool, and a personal message from Honeywell FM&T President Eric Wollerman.

“Our employees have met the COVID-19 challenges head-on and exceeded expectations,” Wollerman noted. “We wanted to show our workforce, through creativity and appreciation, our gratitude during this time – a way for us to feel connected while we’re not able to see our colleagues face to face every day.”

When deciding on contents for the surprise package, the priorities were to maintain the health and safety standards for employees both at work and at home. KCNSC also wanted to provide items that family members could share and enjoy together.

KCNSC has always promoted employee recognition in its culture and felt the acknowledgement was especially important given the circumstances.

“Our appreciation not only exists for our employees but extends to their families too,” Wollerman added.
