HSE&EM recognized for industry excellence by National Safety Council in FY25
Earlier this year the National Safety Council (NSC) recognized Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) with two of its highest honors, reflecting the discipline and teamwork that set a high standard across the National Security Enterprise, acknowledging organizations across the country for outstanding safety performance. KCNSC received multiple accolades for fiscal year 2025 (FY25) safety performance, including the Million Work Hours Award and the Occupational Excellence Achievement Award.
“With a growing workforce and many new employees onboarding during this period, maintaining this level of performance demonstrates the strength of our safety expectations and the rigor of our operational processes,” said Kevin Allgeyer, Senior Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Manager.
Every workday, team members at the Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC), come to work committed to safeguard well-being. Whether it’s using proper personal protective equipment, overseeing fire prevention measures or taking steps to prevent the spread of illness, KCNSC’s culture of health and safety helps protect individuals and their teammates around the clock.
KCNSC’s Health, Safety, Environment and Equipment Maintenance (HSE&EM) organization is an integrated business partner that enables operational excellence by providing best-in-class risk management services, promoting employee well-being and facilitating production equipment reliability. With consistent industry benchmark performance in multiple areas, the team’s proactive strategies provide essential support in fulfilling mission requirements.
NSC Awards

Million Work Hours Award
The NSC Million Work Hours Award recognizes organizations that have completed at least 1 million consecutive work hours without an occupational injury or illness resulting in time away from work. An occupational illness refers to any health condition caused by the work environment or job-related activities. Occupational injuries, on the other hand, include physical or mental harm that happens while working and can include injury due to accidents, repetitive motions or exposure to hazards. In FY25, KCNSC logged more than 7 million work hours over a nine-month period without a lost-time incident.

Occupational Excellence Achievement Award
This award recognizes organizations with an injury and illness record better than or equal to 50% of the Bureau of Labor Statistics with respect to its North American Industry Classification System code (a category determined by a company’s industry). In FY25, KCNSC achieved a lost workday case rate of 0.05, which is 90% lower than the industry average of 0.30. These results highlight a high level of employee engagement where KCNSC teams proactively identify, manage and reduce risks before they lead to injury.
“These achievements are a direct reflection of the everyday actions of employees across the organization — proactively recognizing and mitigating potential hazards, following procedures, communicating concerns and lessons learned while watching out for one another,” said Tom Moibi, Senior Director of HSE and Facilities. “They demonstrate KCNSC’s uncompromising commitment to employee health and safety.”
