Employees inducted into the Black Achievers Society
Three Honeywell employees - Amanda Howell, Curtis Johnson and Lisa Ray will join more than 450 distinguished members of the Black Achievers Society which was founded in 1974 by Congressman Emanuel Cleaver.
To become a member of the Black Achievers Society, one must exemplify corporate leadership, community involvement, educational achievements and significant accomplishments. Every member helps fulfill the core mission of being a role model for black and minority youth. Mentors are dedicated to helping develop the next generation of Kansas City’s Black Achievers. Black Achievers take immense pride in serving their community and creating unique partnerships to provide pathways to new ideas and opportunities.
Amanda Howell is a Deputy Program Manager and is responsible for the financial execution of test equipment projects. She joined Honeywell in 2011, becoming a program manager in 2018. With over eight years’ experience at KCNSC, Amanda is both passionate and knowledgeable in her role. Aside from working at KCNSC, Amanda is active in her community – she’s a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and has a passion for mentoring youth in preparing for professional success.
Curtis Johnson is a Senior R&D Scientist and is regarded as a lead scientist with over 16 years’ experience. Curtis also serves as a certified Black Belt mentor and Green Belt/Design for Six Sigma tools. In addition, he is a career mentor for several new employees and a go-to person for Chemical Management. Curtis is highly involved in various community and civic organizations such as the Science Knowledge Bowl and Science Olympiad –supporting both as an event leader. He has also been involved with the Greater Kansas City Science and Engineering Fair as a judge, co-presenter for one of several STEM events for the Delta Academy- STEM Module, and has volunteered with the Urban Tech Brothers in Technology and the Prince of Peace Elementary School.
Lisa Ray is an Integrated Supply Chain Manufacturing Manager and is responsible for leading dedicated teams while manufacturing sophisticated mechanical, electronic and engineered material components. As a 15 year veteran of manufacturing, Lisa contributes innovation with STEM education, onboarding, hiring and training initiatives, touring federal and local officials and partnering with local technical schools for manufacturing career opportunities at KCNSC. She supports her community by educating the public and assisting the youth through Big Brothers Big Sisters, Operation Breakthrough, PrepKC, Happy Bottoms, March for Babies, St. Jude’s, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and the Jewish Family Service Center. Lisa is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated and is her chapter’s Vice-President.
