The National Safety Council recently honored the Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC), managed by Honeywell FM&T, as a 2023 Industry Leader Award winner. At KCNSC, safety is a core value in our work across all levels of the organization and is an integral part of each work activity.
"We're thrilled and honored to be recognized with the National Safety Council's Industry Leader award. KCNSC’s leadership and safety culture enables and empowers each employee to identify and appropriately mitigate safety risks in the workplace,” said Tom Moibi, KCNSC Director of Health, Safety and Environment & Equipment Maintenance. This recognition brings the total number of awards KCNSC has received in FY23 to 10 – a testament that we continue to deliver exceptional performance while exceeding mission execution goals.”
The National Safety Council's Industry Leader Award is given to the top five percent of companies in the United States and recognizes excellence in safety performance. This year’s 34 winners were selected based on the North American Industry Classification System code, lowest total injury rate, and employee work hours.
"KCNSC continues to relentlessly promote an intentional culture of learning and engagement as a key pillar of our strategy,” Moibi said. “This focus, coupled with exceptional talent, has enabled sustained excellence in safety performance. We're all empowered to continuously identify and action safety risks and improvement opportunities as part of our daily work."
The KCNSC continues to excel in safety with the help of the KCNSC Site Safety Committee, also known as the Safety Squad. The Safety Squad consists of representatives from many divisions at the KCNSC and meets monthly to help reduce worker illnesses and injuries by identifying health and safety risks and potential hazards. The committee then makes recommendations and develops strategies to decrease incidents, conducts periodic safety “Gemba” walks on the manufacturing floor, and most importantly, empowers their colleagues to play a role in everyday workplace health and safety.
“The KCNSC Safety Committee appreciates this recognition and takes pride in leading the charge to drive employee engagement as we work to maintain a safe workplace,” said Nicolas Wilburn, KCNSC Safety Committee member.
