Our Employee Network Groups (ENG) were developed to promote
diversity through employee involvement and engagement. Our ENG’s often provide
a platform for employees to share their ideas in a space where people of
different backgrounds can come together to make connections with others.
Since ENG’s are a vital asset to our employees and our business,
Julie Hickman, Diversity & Inclusion Lead, pulsed our workforce for
necessary additions to our current list of five ENG’s which includes the
Honeywell Black Employees Network (HBEN), the Hispanic Network, the Veterans
Group, the Women's Council and the Young Professionals. Employees indicated
there was a strong interest in creating a LGBTQ+ group, leading to the
establishment of our newest ENG - the Pride Network - which is now a part of
our ENG expansion and inclusion footprint.
“Creating the Pride Network is important to improve the
inclusion of the growing LGBTQ+ demographic within the Kansas City National
Security Campus, ultimately helping our employees within this community,”
Zachary said. “With the size of our company, we have an opportunity to improve
the openness and inclusivity of the LGBTQ+ community within the manufacturing
and STEM industries.”
Zach is also looking forward to helping lead the Pride Network
in creating resources needed for our employees who identify with the LGBTQ+
community. “This is the first time in my career within the manufacturing
industry that I have truly felt inclusion for the LGBTQ+ community. I know the
Pride Network will grow and have a positive impact within our community for
years to come.”
“Creating the Pride ENG is necessary to deepen relationships and
collaboration to those employees who identify with this group,” Julie said.
“Having the Pride Network also enables allies to engage in activities of
support to the LGBTQ+ community. I’m looking forward to working with members of
this network to see what exciting and educating programs they’ll provide to all
of us.”
